LDPOST.com uses the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Private Communication Technology security standards. SSL encodes your personal information, (such as your password, address, phone number, and credit card number) making it available only to you and the financial service providers used to process your credit card. Can I use my credit card with an international billing address?

If you have an international billing address, please call us at (800) 640–2599 to see if we can process your order.

Return to List of Questions

I made a calling card purchase from the LDPOST web store and I see several transactions on my card. What are they?

After you place an order with Long Distance Post, your credit-card company makes an authorization on your account. This checks to see if you have available credit in your account to cover your order. The credit-card company then checks to verify that the address and account number match those in its records. If there is a match, your purchase is approved and the authorized amount is immediately billed.

If there is not a match, your credit-card company keeps the authorized amount in 'escrow' for three-five days, pending further attempts to verify the account and requested transaction. If the purchase is not verified within a week, the amount in escrow is returned to your account. It will no longer appear when you check your credit-card account online.

If you check your credit-card account using your bank's web-based tools, you will see amounts being held in escrow AND actual charges being billed. Some online bank interfaces do not differentiate between pending and actual charges. This is also true for debit cards. Unfortunately, money being held in escrow will not be available for other uses while the transaction is pending. All credit card transaction work this way, it is not unique to Long Distance Post.

Please be assured that even though you may see 'escrow' activities online, they DO NOT APPEAR in your final bill. If you see what looks like a duplicate charge when checking your credit or debit card account online, we suggest you wait for your paper bill before assuming that you've been double-billed. In almost all cases, you will find only one charge on your final bill.
